[What's okay to mention around him/her] The only thing I can say is don't ask Hanna about what happened to him between his fourth and fifth year at Hogwarts unless you want to be blown off. He won't tell your character. He will avoid the question like the plague.
[Is there anything you need us to know about interacting with this character?] He has zigzag scar on his chest, and has specific runes drawn on his body. But unless someone sees them they would never know.
[Can I hack that strike or otherwise find out information they'd prefer to keep hidden?] I will personally indicate the hacking level in my posts! Don't you worry sweetness.

Character Information
Name: Hanna Falk Cross
Canon Origin/Series: Hanna is Not a Boy's Name
Teaching Position and why it suits them: He will be the Study of Ancient Runes teacher! Yes , it is an actual class in the Harry Potter world! Though during the movies and even the books not one of these classes shown being had, but it does exist as a class for third year students to take and requires and extensive reading list!

Suitability:

I feel like Hanna would be a suitable teacher because in the actual canon it is laid out that Hanna has extensive knowledge of Ancient Runes, and how to use them. His first year I assume he would be extremely awkward in gaining his land legs as a teacher, but it helps him blossom in sharing his knowledge. I also feel like it would help him socially, what to say when is a good skill to have and teaching kids would pretty much be the perfect way to teach Hanna this skill.

He is also VERY enthusiastic about the subject. So not only will that help ease him into teaching it, the students will perhaps find it easier to learn when they have a teacher who is really passionate about the subject.

Gender: Male
Age: He is 24, tyvm!!!
Out of school living location: New York City, New York, USA
Blood status: Muggleborn

Personality:

Hanna is first of all Hanna. Easily excitable, hyper active, and extremely enthusiastic about everything he does- especially his line of work. He loves to look on the more positive sides of life, perhaps that is a by product of his life being a huge negative most of the time? Who knows. But he likes to be positive even if it gets his scrawny ass in trouble! He conversates with others...pretty well. Sometimes bringing up things he really shouldn't have (like the lead singing out of tune often, oops). He has a huge tendency to change subjects when he's asked questions about his personal life...like why he smells dead. But he tends to turn it back around pretty good. To keep the subject off of himself. If he asks you a question about yourself, however, you best be answering. HE WANTS TO KNOW ALL ABOUT YOU, nevermind him! What about you.

One of Hanna's biggest blessings and greatest curses is the fact that he can be very empathetic. He's very conscious about those around him and helping them. Which gets him into a lot of trouble. He's very loyal to his friends, helping them whenever he can. You could even stretch and say he's just really helpful to anyone he can be helpful to. Hence meeting Conrad and Toni and befriending them, and trying to help Mister Tibenoch in the ticking mansion.

Having said all that, another downfall is that Hanna tends to become reckless in his line of work. Diving headfirst into things when there are clearly different ways to go about things. He assumes the best about people, another thing that could become a classified fuck up, like releasing Adelaide from her curse. He really just wanted to help Conrad and it backfired so badly Conrad ended up a vampire. It's clear Hanna just doesn't really think things through before he does them, but his extensive knowledge of runes seems to always come in handy in tight situations.

The last notable thing that Hanna has are deep rooted abandonment issues. The one time they are brought up, he gets asked if he is ill. The last time he even remembers having friends is in high school (he's pretty sure anyways......), and he worries that the kind of trouble he gets into is going to drive off the friends he is currently making.

Despite all of that, Hanna doesn't want to change anything about his past or what he does currently. The danger of it will never phase him, and he's sure about that.

Fun fact: His creator Tessa Stone even says on the cast page that Hanna is just like a "manchild". A 24 year old man who is just as excitable as a child with a lollipop.

Not much is really known about Hanna's childhood. It is only vaugely hinted towards in this picture, that perhaps a traumatic event happened in his teenage years. Hanna refrains from talking about this in the comic. Everytime something about his past is brought up or the fact that he smells like death is brought up he makes a comedic remark or changes the subject.

The story actually starts out with Hanna Falk Cross meeting a tall, dark, and mysterious zombie. Who happens to be nameless, and wanting to be his partner. Hanna is off the fucking wall excited about this, quickly accepting Ringo (or whatever his name is that day) into the "business". It isn't booming, but hey!

This is when Mrs. Blaney (yuck) knocks at the door and they meet their first client. Conrad Achenleck. Who is complaining of a vampire bat taking over his apartment. Hanna agrees to go check it out and clear the place of the vampire. When they get there, they discover the bat and Hanna ends up making a deal with her to get her out. With Conrad and Zombie outside of the apartment there is room for Hanna to perform some kind of rune that frees the vampire of her bat form. Conrad and Zombie barge back in and the woman decides to take advantage of Hanna being incapacitated and takes Conrad up to the roof. By the time Hanna and Zombie get to the roof Conrad has been used as dinner and the vampire goes to attack Hanna. This is where it is first commented that he smells like death. Zombie nails her in the back with the hammer and she scurries off. Hanna uses the blood from the hammer to bring Conrad back.

For the second time that night, it is commented that Hanna smells like death and he mumbles something about magic tainting his blood. Not that anyone was really paying attention to that. Right? Right. Hanna takes Conrad down a dork alley to a doctor hack that goes by the name of Worth. Presumably after Conrad punches him in the face he gets food.

The next time we see Hanna he meets Conrad at a bar to deliver him more blood packs and to find out a girl has sent him a letter. This girl goes by the name of Toni Ipres and she is complaining of something not so natural happening in the Ives Theater. A ghost that likes to break things when their lead sings off key? Hanna and the gang (Conrad didn't have much of a choice) go to the theater to meet Miss Ipres and investigate the ghost! Which...didn't turn out as planned. All the lights flicker, and the ghost passes through Hanna. As much as Hanna insists he's okay he ends up biting the dust anyways. Conrad wanted to take him to the hospital, but the Zombie opts to take him to Doc Worth instead. He figured there was a reason Hanna saw the Doctor. Whatever Worth does to Hanna is clearly a secret, and another thing Hanna prefers not to speak about.

They pack up and head back to the theater, entering through the back. This is where they meet Veser Hatch, a kid who had went looking for a family friend that had went missing over a week before this particular night. The sad thing was, he had found him. The ghost is Lee, a family friend and practically an Uncle to Veser. We also find out that Lee was hopelessly in love with Veser's mother, and his mother wasn't...quite human! She was a selkie (a seal) and her pelt has been hidden by Veser's father.

At this point, Veser has run off again and it seems that leaving Conrad and Toni alone wasn't...such a great idea. They are confronted by Finas and Casimiro who are none too pleased that Adelaide (the vampire lady that was holing herself up in Conrad's apartment) was freed. We learn here that Miss Ipres wasn't all that human herself, she's a werewolf.

Back where Hanna, Zombie, and Veser are we see Hanna holding a paper about a witness, a gear taped to the paper. Hanna rushes out after telling Zombie to get Veser out of there, which also ends up backfiring. The ghost of Lee seems angered that the nameless man is getting a second chance and tries to take it from him even at Veser's protests, saying that the body wasn't his to take. But here we get to see a glimpse into the Zombie's past. Murdered.

Hanna shows back up in a heartbeat, shirt stripped and a new quirk about him comes to light. There are runes drawn all over him and a huge zigzag scar that seems to be keeping him together by just the staples. But he is quick to dismiss it again after the ghost isn't possessing Zombie anymore. Making sure the other knows that him stripping his shirt off isn't really something he always does.

Back outside they find Conrad, Toni, Casimiro, and Finas playing poker. They are now confronted with Casimiro nearly losing his humanity over the fact that Hanna freed Adelaide. Hanna is then forcefully hired by Casimiro to draw Adelaide back out. So not only is he dealing with sleuthing about for the person who knows something about Lee's murder, he also has to deal with the vampires once again.

Hanna and Zombie are seen talking later in the night about the possession. Hanna stating that he sent a guide for Zombie wonders if it helped jog his memory even a little. The answer was no. His death, the paper crane. It brought nothing to him. The zombie feels bad, stating that it is easier to forget than to be forgotten. Of course Zombie probes at the patchwork that is Hanna's chest. He doesn't quite dismiss it this time. Stating that is just isn't something he wants the other to worry about. That it's just an old mess that he's been meaning to clean up. He throws the focus back on the Zombie and they start folding paper cranes, one of one thousand. Hanna then decides to take Zombie to Doc Worth for a checkup. When they get there, Lamont Toucey is introduced and Doc Worth is on the floor. Basically the entire visit turns out to be Hanna finding out that Lamont used to have Adelaide as a client. One step closer in the Adelaide case, yeah buddy!

They should have been going to Conrad's apartment. Instead Hanna decides to check out the address on the piece of paper he found at the crime scene. The location turns out to be a liquor store. Here Hanna bothers Mister Tibenoch, asking if the name Lee sounded familiar. Tibenoch insists that it doesn't and he drives off.

Back at Conrad's apartment we find out that Veser is chilling there and once again Hanna's age is questioned, HE IS 24 THANK YOU. He really would prefer if people acknowledged this. But anyways, Hanna mentions the name Tibenoch to Veser and he completely flips out when Hanna mentions he may be part of the case. Veser runs off and Hanna decides to ask Toni (in a tactless way) to help them pick up the scent on the gear to take them to where ever the gear came from. Of course this comes with yet another job afterwards, which is fixing Toni's pendant she uses to turn out of the cycles.

It leads them to a nice house, which they hear ticking from. As they enter they find a mixture of blood and oil that leads to a room. Conrad can't come in, presumably because he wasn't invited. From there they find Mister Tibenoch, bleeding. Hanna, even with the gentleman off of his rocker offers to help him. It seems the gentleman is going to oblige the idea, until the room has locked them all in. Tibenoch pulls a gun and suggests an "experiment". There is a gunshot...and nothing has been elaborated on since this point.

Background (AU!Canon; HP):

paranormal. Hanna grew up with both his mother and his father in Manchester England, both muggles and both always on edge concerned about Hanna's never ending curiosity with the paranormal. It had always brought their child some kind of trouble.

He grew up not knowing a lot of what was considered "normal" to others and was often called strange or weird. Not that he really minded that. Hanna didn't have a lot of friends growing up, usually running children off when he started his funny talk about the paranormal. If it wasn't the paranormal, it was the fact that his name was indeed a girl's name. What was so bad abut his name being Hanna?! He would never understand. This red headed child was always outgoing and willing to keep trying making friends despite the fact that none of them were just as interested in weird things like he was.

When his letter from Hogwarts arrives his parents hesitantly agree to let him go. Thinking that perhaps this would be a place where Hanna would be able to explore his large interest in the supernatural and magic. Hanna always babbled about using magic to help him in his paranormal "investigations". Not that he was able to ever use magic before he got to Hogwarts.

Hanna was sorted into Gryffindor, and spent his time well at Hogwarts. While he didn't do so well in some of his classes, when he started his third year and started to take the Study of Ancient Runes did he really begin to excel in a subject. His marks in this particular class were always at the top.

Between the summers of his fouth and fifth year, a terrible incident happens (assumed to this day to be caused by improper use of runes) that scars Hanna for life. Both mentally and physically. Hanna doesn't really talk about it, and it is hush hush in the Wizarding world. This is a very vague part in Hanna's life that cannot really be elaborated on.

After graduating from Hogwarts he moves back to Manchester for awhile, exploring the paranormal just as he had when he was young. This was definitely a hobby that Hanna makes into his job. The business is anything but booming and he is a one man circus, but hey! He's doing what he loves. That was until he was called up by an old acquaintance, who lives in New York in the United States. This is where Hanna completely fucks up Conrad Achenleck's life. The reason he was called up happened to be something of the paranormal kind. What he didn't expect is that his one little fuck up would have Conrad turned into a vampire.

A few months after Hanna returned to Manchester, he receives a nice worded letter from Hogwarts asking him to be the Study of Ancient Runes teacher. He is completely taken by surprise and hadn't expected anything from Hogwarts after he went and fucked Conrad up. If anything he expected a nasty letter telling him he was a horrible wizard. That being said he obliges very quickly, and at the age of twenty three he drops his Paranormal Investigator job and goes to work for Hogwarts, he is at most a too lenient teacher who offers to help in whatever way he can and isn't tough on anyone unless they push far too many buttons.

He decides after his first year teaching that he misses New York, and picks up his summer life and moves from Manchester to New York so he can live in a dingy apartment building with questionable people dropping by all the time.

Hanna paces the classroom, up and down the aisles supervising the drawing of the newest runes they had learned today. Hanna guesses he is doing this teaching thing the right way. He really thinks he may have bitten off more than he could chew. Hanna knows he can't peek over at Conrad's room today to see how he runs his classroom, it is definitely a bit harsher than he would run his own. Hanna thinks that perhaps helping the students along in a more friendly way will encourage them stay focused in their studies!

"Alright guys. Cool. You're doing great. Now I know we've learned like six runes today, but before class is dismissed I'm gonna give you a real cool rune that is I guess uh, you can call it a spell detector!" Hanna begins drawing this rune up on this chalk board. Big enough for everyone to see. Basically he's hoping to give his students a good resource in a tight situation. "So if you execute this rune correctly you could keep it drawn on a piece of paper and if you're curious of something like..uh, I don't know! A charm on your door you could whip this out and check it out." Okay good, the students don't look too lost right now. Hanna feels proud of himself.

"If there is a spell or charm, then the rune will glow. If not. You're charm free and can go about your day." Hanna waits a moment and answers any outstanding questions about the runes and giving them their homework. "Oh about that test we were going to have on Friday. We're moving that to next Wednesday. Before you ask why. I haven't quiiiiite finished the last grades yet. Now off you go, go on. Your next class is waiting!" Yeah, Hanna didn't really give them time to ask any questions about that. He wasn't being irresponsible or anything.
